"The Swerve"

I just finished reading the book "The Swerve" by Stephen Rosenblatt (ISBN 978-0-393-34340-3). It's a history of the book "On the Nature of Things" by the Roman poet Lucretius.

The "On the Nature of Things" was not well regarded by Christian monks during the dark ages, and without their help in transcribing the old texts they would fall into disrepair and eventually be completely lost to "the teeth of time". This book recounts the story of how Lucretius' poem was rediscovered and returned to circulation after nearly a millennium of neglect. Greenblatt also tells about the influence the book had on our culture.

If you are a student of history, religion, and/or philosophy, I recommend you check it out.
